     Van “Dick” Marlin Snodgrass, 81, Maupin, died at his home Saturday, Oct. 
7, 2006.

     He was born in Maupin, Sept. 21, 1925, the sixth of 11 children to Elmer 
Henry and Ada (Miller) Snodgrass. He grew up in Maupin on the family ranch and 
in 1943 graduated from Maupin High School. 

     He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class from 1944 to 1946 
receiving the Asiatic Pacific Area and American Area Campaign Medals and the 
WWII Victory Medal.

     He married Barbara Leona Tunison on July 11, 1949. She died April 3, 
1989. A few years later he met and married Mary L. Hammer-Lee on Nov. 12, 
1991. She died in August 2004. 

     He was a member of the Maupin American Legion and enjoyed fishing, 
hunting, golfing, shooting trap and supporting and cheering for the South 
Wasco Co. Redsides in all athletic events.

     He is survived by his four children, Audine Dupuis, Sandy; Terry 
Snodgrass, Maupin; Jacky Pribyl and her husband Steve Pribyl, The Dalles; and 
Becky Woods, Dufur; his grandchildren, Brent Dupuis and Gaudy Bogle, 
Hollywood, Calif.; and Tamara Dupuis and Ian Ewing, Sandy; his great-
grandchildren, Dylan Dupuis-Ewing and Kia Mar Bogle-Dupuis; three siblings, 
Sandy Woodside, Maupin; Sid Fargher, Redonda Beach, Calif.; and Bev Holste, 
Maupin.

     He was preceded in death by his two wives, seven siblings and son-in-law, 
Cody Dupuis.

     Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. at 
Maupin Legion Hall with Bill Noonan officiating.

     Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. 

     Memorials may be made to South Wasco County Athletic Fund, PO Box 347, 
Maupin, OR 97037.
