Ruby Frances Snider, 100, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local nursing home on Thursday, March 13, 2003. She was born July 14, 1902, in Bridger, Montana, to a large ranching family, one of nine children to Riley and Frances (Mackey) Rhodes. She married Leonard Thomas Snider on November 21, 1918. In Montesano, Washington while he was serving in the U.S. Army during World War I and they moved to The Dalles in the early 1920s. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed her family, homemaking, sewing, reading and study of the Bible. She is survived by two daughters, Jean and her husband Rusty Hampton, The Dalles; and Bonnie Clements Ferguson, and her husband Nick, Salem; numerous grandchildren; nieces and nephews, including nieces Nancy and husband Stan Wilhelm and Afton and her husband Carlyle Dickson, The Dalles. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in May 1960; one son, Harry L. Snider in 1995 and five brothers and three sisters. Private services will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, with Reverend Lynn Taylor officiating. Entombment will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Mausoleum. Memorials can be made to Columbia Basin Nursing Home, 1015 Webber Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058.
