He was born Dec. 31, 1939, in Yakima, the older of two children to John and Helen (Harris) Siekawitch. He was raised in the Yakima Valley and graduated from A.C. Davis Senior High School in the Class of 1958. After high school, he entered the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1972. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star . After the service, he returned to the Yakima area, and moved to The Dalles in the late 1970s. He played the bass guitar and sang at many local clubs and lodges. He also cooked at the Lone Pine, Portage Inn and Windy River Restaurants prior to his illness. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Hacker) Smith, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1989, in Lincoln City, of The Dalles; three step-children and four step-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara and her husband, Barry Watts, Lacey, Wash., and his longtime special friends, Emilio Guevara and Bonnie (Brat) Palmer, both of The Dalles. Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Moose Rites conducted by Jim Mann. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Oregon Heart Association, 1425 NE Irving #100, Portland, OR 97232-4201.
