The Dalles Chronicle, February 18, 1988
     Raymond A. Smith, a long time resident of The Dalles died at the local 
hospital Monday, February 15 at age 55.  

     He was born September 5, 1932 at Ainsworth, Nebraska.

     He was a member of The Dalles Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Portland 
American Legion Post 114, Union Pacific Old Timers and was a Veteran of the 
Oregon Natl. Guard. 

     Survivors include his wife Lela, sons:  Steven Ray and Terry Lee, 
daughters:  Dawn Renee and Carmen Michelle, mother; Edna Young, brother, Don 
Smith; sister, Nellie Clark, grandchildren, Angelic Dore Smith and Trish May 
Hyde. 

     Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Smith Callaway Chapel 
with Rev. Skip Mitchell officiating.

     Gravesite rites will follow under the auspices of The Dalles Elks and the 
Odd Fellows Parklawn Cemetery.  Darrell Perry, Frank Falbo, Billy Faulkner, 
Carl Cagle, Wayne Johnson and Pete Dyer will serve as casketbearers.
