The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 27, 1983
     Ernest E. Smith, 42, a resident of Boring and former resident of The 
Dalles, died Monday at a Portland hospital.
     He was born Oct. 2, 1941 in Twin Bridges, Mont.
     Mr. Smith attended school in The Dalles and served four years in the 
Marine Corps.  He was also an officer in the High School Rodeo Association of 
Sandy.
     Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean, Boring; three daughters, Mollie 
Lou, Boring; and Christine and Annette, both of Wamic; two sons, Ernest Jr., 
Boring, and Edward, Wamic; his mother, Carrie M. Smith, The Dalles; a brother, 
Arthur E. Smith, The Dalles; three sisters, Patsy Bowers, The Dalles; Peggy 
Broyles, Pensacola, Fla., and Vera Rietmann, Ione, and numerous nieces and 
nephews.
     Funeral services were yesterday morning at Sandy Funeral Home.
