The Dalles Weekly Reminder, March 18, 1988
Evelyn Shurtz, 82, died March 10, 1988, at a local nursing home.  Born Dec. 
15, 1905, in Portland, she was a resident of Klickitat, Wash.

Mrs. Shurtz was a member of Eagles Auxiliary, Bingen Wash. #2210 and Royal 
Neighbors of America.

Survivors include three daughters:  Julie Roberts, Klickitat; Millie McArdle, 
Yakima and Doris Ann Meades, White Salmon; four sisters, Elizabeth Syvertson, 
Friend, Ore.; Adeline Sorenson, Friend, Ore., Marjorie Gregory, West Lynn, and 
Margaret Johnson, Lyle, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-
grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years in 1986, 
and a brother, Louis Nagel.

Funeral services were Tues., March 15, at Smith Callaway Chapel, with Pastor 
Asa Jenson officiating.  Interment was at Odd Fellows Parklawn Memorial 
Garden.  Pallbearers were Mel Tennison, Donald Scofield, Wesley Bresaw, Harry 
Robinson, Kenneth Kyte and Robert Yeley.
