The Dalles Chronicle, October 6, 2006
     Jean Shoman, 64, a resident of Dallesport, died at her home Sept. 23, 
2006.

     She was born in The Dalles on June 24, 1942 to Virginia Irene (Redding) 
and Adolph Henry Stores.

     She married Larry Shoman in Coeur’d Alene, Idaho on Dec. 7, 1974. They 
made their home in the Yakima Valley for some 30 years. After retiring from 
the Department of Social and Health Services in Sunnyside, Wash., in 2004 she 
moved back to her birth town.

     In February of this year while visiting the Marshall’s Winery they became 
aware of a property nearby for sale, and bought the home with its beautiful 
view of The Dalles and Mt. Hood. She enjoyed romance novels, boating, the 
beach, camping, hunting, sewing, painting and fishing and even tied her own 
flies.

     Survivors include her husband, Larry Shoman, Dallesport; daughters, 
Rhonda Costello and Julia Balla, Portland; brothers Rex Stores, Vancouver; and 
Lance Stores, Clarkston, Wash.; sisters, Cathy Schmutzler, Vancouver; Linda 
Stouffer, Bremerton, Wash.; Terri Jones, Elma, Wash.; Sandy Vick and Suzy 
Haight, Pendleton, and her border collie, Keno.

     A celebration of life and memorial service will be at the Eagles Lodge in 
The Dalles on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m.
