Lois Marie Shetler, 72, a resident of Wamic (Oregon), died on December 1, 2002. She was born of Jacob and Mary (Buckwalter) Roth in Iowa City, Iowa on March 16, 1930. She moved to Upland, California in 1931 and lived there until 1942 when her parents moved to Harrisburg. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior during her childhood. She was gifted with music and wrote the words for her high school graduating class song, "Meet for the Masters Use" which is now published in the song book, "Songs that Live". She married Eldon Shetler in Hubbard (Oregon) at Hopewell Mennonite Church on December 21, 1950. They began life together at Western Mennonite School where he was hall manager and she worked in the kitchen. They moved to Yale, Washington in the spring of 1951 and started the Pleasant View Community Church. Since then they have pastored in Birkenfeld, 22 years, and Winston, one year; Gateway, Colorado, eight years; Ashwood (Oregon) four years and in Antelope (Oregon) 1995 to the present. She was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2001 and shortly after they moved from Antelope to Wamic to be near family. Survivors include her husband, Eldon; 10 children and their spouses; 32 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Madras (Oregon) Conservative Baptist Church on Saturday, December 7, at 1 p.m. and interment will be at Antelope Cemetery.
