Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 31, 2006, 9:08 pm The Dalles Chronicle, October 13, 2006 Faith Sherman, 97, Hood River, died on Sept. 21, 2006 at a care center in Hood River. She was born Nov. 2, 1908 in Forest Grove, the second of six children to Peter Edwin and Elizabeth Anne Phillips Wagner. She grew up in various places in the Willamette Valley. She was descended from Oregon Trail pioneers of 1852 and 1863, who settled in the Silverton area. She married John Lawrence Sherman on July 27, 1929 in Dayton. She was the author of “Goodbye Goose,” a history and pictorial book about southeastern Alaska aviation. She is survived by her daughters, Kay (Sherman) Servas, Damascus; Barbee Hodgkins, The Dalles; and Mary Michael Collins, Santa Rosa, Calif.; brother, Glenn Wagner, Cottage Grove; sister, Eloise Bonhart; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and one brother. Graveside services were held Oct. 7 in McMinnville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, P.O. Box 35, Hood River, OR 97031. Arrangements were by Macy and Son Funeral Directors of McMinnville.
