The Dalles Chronicle, August 17, 2004
     Violet Marie Shepard, 92, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care 
facility Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004.
     She was born July 21, 1912 in Bakeoven near Maupin, to George Levi and 
Daisy Ann (Davis) Kirby. 
     She married Maitland B. Shepard on June 16, 1932 in Goldendale. He worked 
as a projectionist and she worked as a cashier for the Granada, Civic, 
Starlight and The Dalles Drive-in theatres. 
     She is survived by several nieces and nephews and was preceded in death 
by her husband, Maitland Shepard on Dec. 17, 1998.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19.
     Graveside services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights 
Road at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, with Asa Jenson officiating. Spencer, Libby 
and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
     Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
