Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 7, 2006, 10:51 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, April 9, 1982 Carl Marion Shelden, 73, a resident of Condon for the past 15 years, died April 1 at the hospital. He was born October 22, 1908 in Portland. Mr. Shelden was a resident of the Portland and Pendleton areas prior to moving to Condon where he worked as a highway engineer for the state highway department. He retired 10 years ago and became a registered land surveyor in Gilliam County. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge in Condon. Survivors include his wife, Ruth L. Shelden, Condon; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Frazier, Detroit, Mich.; Michael Taylor, Lyle, Wash.; and Douglas Taylor, Tateville, Ky.; two stepsons, Thomas Neel, Klamath Falls and David Neel, The Dalles; and a sister Rachael Sammis, Woodland, Wash. Funeral services were Monday at the United Church of Christ in Condon, followed by entombment at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum in Portland. Memorials are suggested to the Oregon Heart Fund. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
