The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 19, 1988
Valesta Elizabeth Shaw, 91, a resident of The Dalles for the past 70 years, 
died Sat., Feb. 13 at a local nursing home.

Mrs. Shaw was born Dec. 6, 1896, in Shubert, Neb. to John and Lealla May 
(Tibbets) Robertson.  She was a member of Gateway Presbyterian Church, Azelea 
Rebekah Lodge and Pacific Northwest Bell Old Timers.  She worked for 30 years 
as a telephone operator prior to her retirement in the late 1960s.

She is survived by a son, Gaylord D. Haskins, The Dalles; two grandchildren; 
Roy Haskins, The Dalles, and Barbara Casey, Boise, Idaho; four great-
grandchildren:  Tammy and Troy Haskins, and Martin and Kevin Flowerdew.

Her husband Samuel Shaw died in April 1939.

Graveside funeral services were held Wed., Feb. 17 at The Dalles Odd Fellows 
Cemetery.  Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
