Shannon Obituary 1922 The Dalles Chronicle, Monday, April 24, 1922, Front page Tolbert M. Shannon Dies at La Grande Native of The Dalles Passes After Illness of More Than Five Years Tolbert M. Shannon, 38 years old, a native of The Dalles, died Saturday evening at LaGrande (Oregon), following a long illness. He was born in The Dalles, and received his education and training in his trade of harness maker and saddler here. In 1908 he moved to Pendleton, where he remained until 1910, when he again went to LaGrande, where he engaged in business until his death. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace Shannon; three sisters here, Mrs. Ed Howell, Mrs. Charles Golden and Florence Shannon, and Mrs. J.E. Welch of Clackamas (Oregon), also a sister; his mother, Mrs. Deloes Shannon of The Dalles, and three brothers, Joseph, James and William. Ill Five Years Death followed an illness of five years and eight months. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Crandall Undertaking company's chapel. The Christian Science services will be observed. The body will arrive in The Dalles from LaGrande tomorrow morning. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow's cemetery.
