He was born in Washington, D.C., on March 23, 1963. He graduated from Portland State University in March 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He and his wife, Jan, together ran Byrkit, Inc., a successful clothing line, with several Portland stores and a following across the country. He achieved one of his lifelong dreams when he joined the Mosier Volunteer Fire Department as a volunteer fireman and later as an EMT. Recently, he achieved another lifelong dream of becoming a paramedic. He worked close to home at Skyline Hospital in White Salmon. He is survived by his wife, Jan; his children, Jen and Garrett; his mother, Charlotte Seward; sisters, Anne Myers and Nancy Seward; a brother John Seward and their families. A memorial service and sharing/reception was held earlier today at the Mosier Grange. Memorials may be made to the Mosier Volunteer Fire Department. “Mosier Valley Volunteers,” P.O.
