She was born March 25, 1957, in Ft. Benton, Mont., to Cliff and Mel (Bovee) Taylor. She grew up in Arizona and moved to Hood River with her family in 1964. After graduation from High School, she lived in San Francisco for two years while attending college, plus one year after her marriage. She and husband Gilbert Sellers moved back to Hood River in 1978 and have lived there ever since. Her great love was children. She operated a day care in her home for a number of years as she as raising Jessie and Noah. She was creative in the activities with the children; tea parties, making doll houses, playing dress-up and many pretend games. Her Sunday School kids adored her and always rose to the challenges she gave them, exemplifying scripture was important; their reward was a Bible of their own with their name engraved in gold on the front. Every child earned one. She worked several years at Hood River County Bank and later Key Bank, then became the receptionist at Don Nunamaker Realtors where Don Nunamaker kept urging her to get her sales license and become an agent with her mom. She did that four years ago and letters from her customers and clients reflected the personal touch and many extras her service provided and a very genuine involvement in their lives beyond buying or selling a house. She created a "monthly market watch" and "End of the year report" with much statistical information. They were made available to all the agents in the office for their use as well. Her upbeat attitude and joy of life penetrated the whole office, where she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband Gilbert Sellers of Hood River; daughter, Jessie and husband Bob Wood of The Dalles; son, Noah Sellers of Hood River, grandson, Alex Wood of The Dalles; parents Cliff and Mel Taylor of Hood River; three sisters, Mary Beth Copper of Yacolt, Wash., Lee Ann Routson of Parkdale, and Lisa Calmettes of Milwaukee; brother, John Taylor of Hood River; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 20, at the Hood River Christian Missionary Alliance Church at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Jo Ella Sellers Memorial Fund c/o Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals * Receptions * Cremations) 1401 Belmont Hood River, OR 97031.
