The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 18, 1984
     Richard (Dick) William Schunke, 77, died Oct. 14, at a Portland 
hospital.  He resided in The Dalles since 1920.

     He was born Jan. 21, 1907 in Nakomis, Sask., Canada.

     Before his retirement, Mr. Schunke had worked as a butcher.

     He is survived by two sisters, Edna McDaniel and Myrtle Otey, both of 
Portland.  His wife, Helen Marie, died in 1971, and a son R. W. Schunke, died 
in 1952.

     He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 303 in The Dalles.

     At his request, no funeral service will be held.  Private cremation 
services have been held in Portland.  

     Smith Callaway Chapel was in care of arrangements.
