The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 8, 1995
     Kenneth Sather, 80, The Dalles, died at his home on Nov. 28, 1995.
     He was born Nov. 27, 1915 in Lynden, Wash., the second of nine children 
to Louis and Laura (Strader) Sather.  He moved to Grass Valley and attended 
Kent schools, graduating in 1934.
     He married Thelma Farrar on Oct. 2, 1937, in Vancouver, Wash.  They lived 
in Moro for seven years, where he worked at several jobs, including his own 
trucking business.  In 1944, they moved to Kent to farm until moving to The 
Dalles in 1980.
     He was a member of The Dalles First Christian Church, Oregon Wheat 
League, Oregon Farm Bureau and Sherman County Cattleman's Association.  He 
served as a commissioner of the Sherman County Court and also served on the 
Kent School Board.
     He is survived by his wife, Thelma, The Dalles; son, Paul and his wife, 
Carol, of Kent; Daughters:  Helene Sather of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Shirley 
and her husband, Art Decker of Kent; eight grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren; sisters:  Ann Franklin of The Dalles and Helen Weiker of 
Southern California.  He was preceded in death by his son, Roy Sather, in Oct. 
1963.
     Viewing visitation was at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Dec. 
1-2.  Services were Dec. 2 at the funeral home chapel.
     Memorials:  Sherman County Museum or Kent Baptist Church, in care of 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles.
