     George R. Rutherford, 69, a resident of Eagle Creek died in a Gresham 
hospital Monday, March 22, 2004.
     He was born Oct. 13, 1934 in Oakland, Calif., the youngest child of 
William C. and Dorothy M. (Chase) Rutherford.
     The family moved to Wamic when he was a young child. He attended school 
in Tygh Valley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 and was stationed in 
Germany.
     He moved to Portland where he and his wife, Sally A. (Hanna) Rutherford 
resided after their nuptials in 1959 at the Methodist church in Dufur. He was 
the proud father of two children, Pamila in 1964 and Rick in 1966.
     He enjoyed boating, water skiing and picnicking with his family on the 
Columbia River. 
     He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, 
Local #48 for more than 25 years.
     He loved his children very much, his Dachshund, Frida; his long time 
companion Betty; and adored his only grandchild, 8-year-old Jillian.
     He had a passion for his Christmas tree farm, fishing, hunting, reading, 
rodeos, motorcycle races and travel and enjoyed spending time with his close 
friends and family.
     He is survived by his son Rick Rutherford, Portland; daughter Pamila 
Rutherford, Dufur; granddaughter Jillian, Dufur; three half brothers Jack 
Copeland, The Dalles and Paul and Ralph Copeland, both of Bend; numerous 
nieces and companion Betty Pinnix, Eagle Creek. 
     He was preceeded in death by his mother, Dorothy M. (Rutherford) 
Copeland; sister Eloise Sanders; and aunt Ruth North.
     Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the 
Estacada Community Center, 200 S.W. Club House Drive, with a potluck wake 
immediately following in Eagle Creek on Rutherford Road.
     Private cremation was held at Boring’s Cornerstone Funeral Services.
     Rememberances may be made to the Estacada Senior Center-Home Delivered 
Meals, 200 S.W. Club House Drive, Estacada, OR 97024.
