The Dalles Chronicle, November 18, 2003
  E. Marie Rundell, 79, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local hospital 
Monday, Nov. 17, 2003.
     She was born Aug. 16, 1924 in Powers Lake, N.D., the youngest of five 
children to Erling and Lydia (Breding) Olson. She was raised in North Dakota 
and moved to Hood River in the late 1930s and then to Portland where she 
worked in the shipyards during World War II.
     After the war, she married Omer Lee Rundell on Nov. 27, 1945 in La 
Grande. They lived in Hood River, Pendleton, Portland and then settled in The 
Dalles in the late 1980s. 
     She was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed her family, her 
grandchildren and homemaking.
     She is survived by two daughters, Valerie Marie Nevins, The Dalles; Peggy 
Lee Ison and her husband, Ross, Beaverton; six grandchildren, Jeff, Troy, 
Tonya, Jill, Allan and Travis; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge 
Taylor and Betty Smith, both of Hood River. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Omer Rundell in March 1995, a brother and a sister.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
today, Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 
p.m.
     A celebration of life service will be held at Gateway Presbyterian Church 
on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held 
at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m.. 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home are in care of arrangements.
     Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 2120 First Ave. N, 
Seattle, WA 98109.
