The Dalles Chronicle, May 29, 2005
     Jay Lynn Ruddell, 54, a resident of The Dalles, died at a Portland 
hospital on Monday, May 23, 2005.
     He was born July 13, 1950 in Borger, Texas, the younger of two boys to 
William Elijah and Josephine Louise (Dull) Ruddell. He was raised in Borger 
and attended schools there. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy 
during VietNam on the U.S.S. Joseph Strauss and was stationed in the South 
Pacific.
     Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, he moved to Molalla and 
met his bride to be, Dolores Diana Becker in 1971. They were married March 8, 
1972 in Oregon City and they moved to Grass Valley in 1994 and then to The 
Dalles in 2000. 
     He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and the outdoors.
     Jay is survived by his wife, Diana Ruddell, The Dalles; his children, 
Bill Ruddell, Rufus; Shawn Ruddell, The Dalles; Jay Ruddell Jr., The Dalles; 
his brother, William Ruddell, Tekoa, WA; grandchildren, Dawn Elliott, The 
Dalles, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
     Graveside services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at 11 
a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in 
care of arrangements.
