He was born August 2, 1931 in Beaver, Missouri, the sixth of nine children to Quince and Nora Elen (Wilson) Rucker. He moved to central Oregon when he was nine. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korea Conflict, then returned to the Pacific Northwest. He flew crop dusting airplanes, then worked construction, specializing in swimming pools. Survivors include his wife, Florence, Beaverton, whom he married on January 6, 1966 in Reno, Nevada; three sons, John R. Rucker and Alan Rucker, both of Portland; and Paul Dale Rucker, Anchorage (Alaska); two daughters, Vicki Lynn Chamberlain, Banks (Oregon), and Marietta Anderson, Moor Park, California; five grandchildren; two sisters, Marie and Sue of Bellingham, Washington; and a brother, Edward Rucker, Littleton, Colorado.
