The Dalles Chronicle, April 25, 2006
     Alan Dale Rowland, 58, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local 
hospital on Saturday, April 22, 2006.
     He was born in Boise, Idaho, on Sept. 14, 1947 the fourth of five 
children to Norman Alexander and Bertha (Uhl) Rowland. 
     As a young child he moved to The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles 
High School in 1965. After graduation he went into the U.S. Navy as an air sea 
rescuer in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. After the service, he 
returned to The Dalles working for a short time for Les Schwab Tire Center and 
the Aluminum Plant, until he was hired with the Union Pacific Railroad as a 
conductor. On Feb. 12, 1966 he married Peggy L. Eads in The Dalles.
     He enjoyed fishing, golfing, running his dog, playing with his 
grandchildren and spending time at the Deschutes River. He was a member of the 
Moose Lodge and American Legion.
     He is survived by his wife Peggy Rowland; his two children, Scott and his 
wife Lisa, and Dawna and her husband Randy Seibel, all of The Dalles; his six 
grandchildren, Colton, Meghan, Madison, Kory, Tyler and Kayla, all of The 
Dalles; his two brothers, Ron Rowland, The Dalles; and Fred Rowland, 
Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. 
     He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a brother and sister 
and his step father.
     A casual celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 1 
p.m. at the Moose Lodge with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of 
arrangements.
