The Dalles Chronicle, June 9, 2005
     Mildred “Janice” Rowan, 62, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local 
hospital on Tuesday, June 7, 2005.
     She was born Jan. 22, 1943, in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, the 
oldest of three children to William Robert and Mildred Hazel (Johnson) Jones. 
     She grew up in Coy, Arkansas and graduated in 1960, from Orosi Union High 
School in Orosi, Calif.
     She married Bobby Carroll Rowan on Oct. 21, 1966, in Dinuba, Calif., and 
they lived there until moving to Hood River in 1979. They moved to The Dalles 
in 1994.
     She was a homemaker, enjoyed reading books, sewing and yard work.
     She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bobby C. Rowan, The Dalles; 
her children, John and daughter-in-law, Dena Rowan, Elgin; Robert Rowan Sr. 
and Christina Patten, Wishram; 10 grandchildren including Robert Rowan, Jr., 
The Dalles, who she raised as her own son. 
     She was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie Don Jones and Robert 
Doyle Jones.
     Viewing visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. and 
Monday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
     Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 13, at the Odd 
Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road.
     Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association, 7420 SW 
Bridgeport Rd. #200, Tualatin, OR 97224-7711.
