The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 23, 1984
Pete C. Roethler, 92, a resident of The Dalles since 1950, died at a local 
nursing home on Friday.

He was born Jan. 31, 1892 in Haines and was a member of a pioneer family in 
that area.

Before his retirement, he was a heavy equipment operator and worked in dam 
construction.  He was a member of Operating Engineers, Local No. 701.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel, The Dalles; a son, Wayne, Longview, Wash.; 
three grandchildren; a brother, Ernest, Union; a sister, Cora Taylor, Baker; 
and seveeral nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services were Tuesday at the Haines Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Smith Callaway Chapel 
was in charge of arrangements.
