He was born Oct. 3, 1909, in Wilbur, Wash., the youngest of nine children to John Henry and Florence (Belle) Robertson. He was raised in the Wilbur area and married Bessie Viola Brown on Sept. 14, 1932, in Davenport, Wash. He worked as a farm laborer in eastern Washington and then started working as a plumber and pipefitter in the construction trade. He worked on the Grand Coulee Dam, the ship yards in Seattle and Portland during World War II. After the war, he worked on the Hungry Horse Dam, the ARCO Oil Refinery in Ferndale, Wash., the Trojan Nuclear Plant as well as many other small jobs, retiring in 1973. After his retirement, he worked maintenance at the Portage Inn for five years. He had been a member and past president of the Eagles Lodge in Moses Lake, Wash., and was a 65-year member of Pipefitter’s Union Local 26. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Berniece Elizabeth Robertson, Dallesport, whom he married in Ephrata, Wash., on March 28, 1952; two sons, Gordon and his wife, Sultana Robertson, Walla Walla, Wash.; Gary Robertson, Discovery Bay, Calif.; one step-daughter, Patricia and her husband, John Coker, Benton, Miss.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, at 1 p.m. with Asa Jenson officiating. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory. Inurnment of cremains will be at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery Memorial Mausoleum. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association, 7420 SW Bridgeport Road #200, Tualatin, OR 97224-7711.
