Surnames: Roberts, Nelson Catherine E. Roberts, 98, a former resident of Spokane (Washington), died on March 13, 2003 in San Jose, California. She was born in 1904 in Superior, Wisconsin. In 1923 she taught school near The Dalles where she met Andrew Roberts. They were married in 1925 and lived throughout Oregon and Washington before settling in Opportunity, Washington in 1942. For many years she was active in the community while he operated a construction company in that area. She moved from Spokane to San Jose in 1996. She was an avid reader, enjoyed walking, gardening, nature, traveling, sewing and writing letter to everyone. Survivors include a son, Clyde H. Roberts; grandchildren, Jon, Neil, Darcie, Chris and Matthew Nelson; Karla Dallas, Bruce, Mike, Dean and Greg Roberts; great-grandchildren Andrew, Shanna, Belinda, Martha, Emily, Brian, Dalton, Kevin, Phillip, Shawn, Heather, Brandon, John and Brittany and great-granddaughter, Kathryn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years and a daughter, Donna R. Nelson. No public memorial service is planned. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Foundation or the local library.
