She was born Aug. 18, 1951 in Tacoma, Wash., and grew up in a house built in the early 1900’s. She was active in swimming in high school and graduated from Wilson High School in 1969. She married Ivan Ritchie on March 18, 1973 and graduated from Central Washington State College with majors in social science, health education and elementary education in June 1973. After graduation she obtained her endorsement in special education and took a self-contained classroom position for the White Swan School District on the Yakima Indian Reservation. After a year, she and her husband took jobs in The Dalles. Suann taught reading at the middle school, special education, first, second and fifth grades. She took a principal position at Mid-Valley Elementary in the Hood River School District from 1989 to 1991. In 1991, she followed her husband to the Hermiston-Pendleton area. While there, she was the director of student services for the Umatilla Morrow County Educational Service District. She followed Ivan to the Lebanon area in 1995 and became a principal in the Lebanon Community School District, serving at Sodaville, Green Acres and Riverview schools. She is survived by her husband, Ivan, Lebanon; three daughters: Cariann Woodral, Salem; Juliann Woznika, Fruitland, Idaho; and Molliann Ritchie, Lebanon; her mother: Kathryn Quasebarth, Lebanon; a granddaughter: Samantha Ann Woznika, Fruitland; and a sister: Joann Hilgar of Washington. Her father, Dorus Holly Quasebarth preceded her in death. Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon. Riverview School will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, for parents, students and work associates wishing to pay respects and visit. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29 at Lebanon Chapel, 2900 S. Main Rd., Lebanon. Burial will be at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, OR 97355.
