Surnames: Reznicsek, Howey, Blythe, Buchanan, Bradshaw, Cady, Walker Elaine Joy Reznicsek, 73, died at the home of her daughter in Stevenson (Washington) on April 19, 2003. She was born September 18, 1929 in Chewelah, Washington to Amsel Pinkney and Cora Isabelle (Blythe) Howey. She married Joseph Arthur Reznicsek on August 30, 1947, in Portland, where she lived for 56 years. She was an employee of Jantzen for 15 years, advancing from seamstress to auditor before her retirement in 1985. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and held many offices in the 15 years she was an active member, including neighborhood chairman. She was a member of the Wings of Healing Portland Temple Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her sewing talents by making wedding gowns for her three daughters. Upon retirement she traveled the world visiting India several times and Hong Kong, Nepal, Europe, Africa and Egypt. She expressed her concern for the mission school started by her father-in-law in India by supporting them financially as well as embracing them as family. She was an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her son, Virgil Lynn Reznicsek; her daughter, Marcia Lee Reznicsek Buchanan, her husband, Joseph and her sister, Doris Bradshaw. Survivors include two daughters, Gladys (William) Cady, The Dalles; and Cheryl (Mark) Walker, Stevenson; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, P.Wayne and Viola Howey and Arden and Doris Howey; five nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park, 11801 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland. A memorial service will start at 2 p.m. Interment will follow immediately. A reception will follow interment. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge (751 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058).
