Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 22, 2006, 10:30 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, June 7, 1984 Victor Hugh Remington, 65, The Dalles, was found dead in the back yard of the family home shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Remington was born April 22, 1919 to Hugh and Lurena Remington, The Dalles. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII, and married Violet Ketterling on Feb. 4, 1944 in The Dalles. He farmed in the 15-mile area until his retirement. He was a member of The Dalles Elks Lodge No. 333, The Odd Fellows Lodge, Wasco County Pioneer Association, and was a life member of the Oregon Wheat League. He is survived by his wife Violet, The Dalles; one son, Larry Remington, Grand Junction, Colo.; one daughrer, Nancy Caramella, Portland; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lurena Remington, The Dalles; and one sister, Mrs. Don (Elpha) Hall, The Dalles. Funeral services were held at Spencer Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Monday, June 4. Pastor Asa Jenson officiated. He was buried at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in The Dalles. Memorials are suggested to Oregon Heart or Kidney associations.
