     Helen Christine Redding, 84, a resident of Reedsport, died Tuesday, May 
11, 2004 at the Hood River Care Center. 
     She was born Aug. 25, 1919 in Lovelock, Nev. to Maurice and Edna 
(Godward) Scott. 
     She grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from South Pasadena High School. 
     She married William Wallace Batholomew in 1940 in Los Angeles; he died in 
1945. She later married Lawrence Allison Redding in 1946 and they moved to 
Santa Rosa, Calif. in 1952, where she worked as a school secretary for 20 
years from 1960 until her retirement in 1980. 
     Following her retirement they traveled extensively in their RV for five 
years, settling in Reedsport in 1985, which served as home base for several 
more years of traveling. 
     While in Reedsport she was active in the hospital auxiliary there. Mr. 
Redding died in 1996 and she moved to Hood River earlier this year to be near 
family. 
     In addition to traveling she enjoyed needlework and various crafts as 
well as gardening.
     Survivors include her children and their families; son and daughter-in-
law Glenn and Liz Bartholomew of Mosier and son Wayne Redding of Sacramento, 
two grandchildren, Leigh Reuter and Lauren Lentz, and two great-grandchildren, 
Finigan Reuter and Aiden Lentz.
     The family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance in conjunction 
with the disposition of her ashes. 
     Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 751 Myrtle 
Street, The Dalles, OR 97058. 
     Arrangements are by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
