Surnames: Redden, Williams, Adair, Manzella, Guest Ellen Frances Redden, 49, a resident of The Dalles, died February 17, 2003, at a local care center. She was born in Houston, Texas to Lawrence M. and Margaret Ellen (Williams) Adair on October 21, 1953. Her family had lived in Houston for several generations and she grew up there. She graduated from Lamar High School and later married Donald Shipley Redden Jr. They raised their children in Texas and then moved to The Dalles to be near his sister, Julianne Marie Redden Manzella and her family. He died in February 2001 of heart-related ailments. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Chenowith School District and enjoyed music, shopping, camping and spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Heather Nicole Redden, 18, and Derek Collin Redden, 11, The Dalles; her mother, Margaret Williams Adair, Houston, Texas; brothers Martin Adair and his wife Amy, Woodinville, Washington; and Lawrence Arnold Adair, San Diego, California; sister-in-law Juli and her husband Rick Manzella, The Dalles; nieces and nephews Jared Manzella, Taylor Redden, Megan and Sara Guest; and her companion Dan Minor, The Dalles. The family also wishes to recognize the special friendship extended to Ellen and her children by the staff at Evergreen The Dalles Health and Mid-Columbia Medical Center during her illness. Graveside memorial services will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery on Threemile Road at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redden Children's Trust in care of Columbia River Bank in The Dalles. The trust was established to assist with medical, educational, and other basic needs for the children. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
