Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 2, 2006, 1:38 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 20, 2006 Edward H. Ranslam, 73, a resident of Independence, died on April 15, 2006. He was born in Portland on April 7, 1933 and lived in Beaverton until 1943. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War conflict from 1953 to 1955. He had 20 years of police work for The Dalles, Multnomah County and Union Pacific. He received a bachelor’s degree from Oregon College of Education and worked 14 years as a truck driver, first for May Trucking and then Golden Trucking and finally retired from Safeway in 2000. He was an ardent member of the National Rifle Association and supporter of the second amendment. He married his wife, Janice, on Aug. 13, 1962. Other than his wife in Independence, he is survived by a son, Edward H. Ranslam II, Keizer; three daughters, Pattie Zerbe, Redmond; Suzi Curtis, Keizer, and Diana Ranslam, Independence; six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the NRA. Arrangements are by Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence.
