He was 76. He was born Jan. 5, 1919 in Norfork, Neb., the youngest of two children to Harvey and Nancy (Miller) Prouty. He grew up in Osawatomie, KA., then following high school he moved to Oregon. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1946. He then returned to the Bend area, working construction there until 1975. He lived in Amaragosa Valley, NV. until 1987, then returned to Oregon. Wes married Betty Collins on Dec. 24, 1949 in Bend and she preceded him in death in July of 1989. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6826 and laborer's Local 915 and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his son, Harvey Joe Prouty of Lyle, WA.; a daughter, Nancy Clark of Price, UT.; grandchildren: Craig Clark of Price, UT., Michelle Farrens of Cambridge, ID., Brandy Wolf of Dallesport, Cassandera Prouty of Carson, WA.; five great grandchildren; a brother, Harvey Prouty of Portland; and numerous nices and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in The Dalles. Graveside committal services will be at the Amaragosa Valley Cemetery in Amaragosa Valley, NV. on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
