He was born Feb. 16, 1932 in Quesnel, B. C. to John and Mildred (Moore) Pridie. He came to Oregon as a young man, and married Shirley May Wood in Newberg, in July, 1950. They made their home in The Dalles from the early 1960s until her death last December. He was a professional musician, and had backed such country music luminaries as Ray Price, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson and others on guitar. He later played most of the venues in the mid-Columbia area as a part-time job while working for several auto dealerships as a vehicle transporter. He had owned and operated several used merchandise outlets, the last being “Trader Slim’s” in the Westgate Shopping Center. Survivors include his mother, Mildred Roper of Blaine, Wash.; daughters Karon Sprouse of The Dalles, Kathy and her husband Billy Schafer of Cornelius, and Kitty Pridie of Wittman, Ariz.; son and daughter-in-law Keith and Cathy Pridie of Queens Creek, Ariz. Also surviving are half-brothers Dennis and Joel, half-sisters Peggy and Jeannie and a sister Phyllis, and his grandchildren James Sprouse of Guam, Jonathan and his wife Jennifer Pridie, and Jason Pridie of Fort Myers, Fla. Celebration of life services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at The Dalles Christian Center, 3219 West 10th St., with Pastor John Rickards presiding.
