     Barbara Louise Preston, 62, a lifelong resident of The Dalles, died at 
her home Thursday, March 11, 2004.
     She was born Aug. 10, 1941, in The Dalles, the oldest child of Lloyd and 
Bertha Faye (Dixion) Preston. She grew up in The Dalles and was a member of 
The Dalles High School Class of 1959.
     In her younger years she worked as a nurse’s aide and later as a child 
care provider. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and enjoyed 
gardening, cooking and being with family and friends.
     She is survived by her daughter, Mary Catherine Preston, The Dalles; her 
sister, Patricia Gallagher, The Dalles; her brother Patrick Gallagher and his 
wife, Diana, Goldendale; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in 
death by her longtime friend and companion, Dan T. Gallagher.
     Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, at St. 
Peter Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Unger as celebrant. Private cremation was 
held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral 
Home in care of arrangements.
     Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association, 7420 SW 
Bridgeport Rd. #200, Tualatin, OR 97224-7711.
