The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 4, 1984
     Lois Dean Powell, 60, died at a Portland hospital Sept. 25 after a sudden 
illness.  She lived in The Dalles since 1949.
     She was born July 17, 1924 at Montrose, La.
     She had worked as a waitress at Johnny's Cafe for many years.
     Survivors include three sons, Larry and Geary Powell, both of Portland, 
and Randall Powell in the U.S. Air Force in Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, 
Judy Rohde, The Dalles; six grandchildren and three brothers in Louisiana.
     At her request, no public funeral service was held.  Spencer, Libby & 
Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
