The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 3, 1983
     Archie V. Pounds, 78, a former resident of The Dalles, died Oct. 20 at 
his home in Sandy.
     He was born Jan. 24, 1905 in Concordia, Kan.
     After being raised in the Mid-west, he was married to Ila Kenyon in 
Minneapolis, Kan. on March 31, 1928.  They began their family in Kansas, 
moving to Portland in 1935.
     They moved to Sandy in 1942, where Archie worked in the lumber industry.
     From 1951 until retirement, they resided at Tygh Valley where Mr. Pounds 
was employed by the Mt. Fir Lumber Company.  Upon retiring, they moved to The 
Dalles where he lived until returning to Sandy two years ago.
     Survivors include his wife, Ila, Sandy; four children, Imogene Fischer, 
Boring; Leota Ownbey, Sandy; Gaylord Pounds, The Dalles, and Dorothy Pounds, 
California; two sisters, Daisy Deirs, Idaho, and Margaret Burns, Gresham; 17 
grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
     Services and interment were Oct. 22 at the Sandy Ridge Cemeetery.  Sandy 
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
