The Dalles Weekly Reminder, May 7, 1982
     Roy M. Porter, 86, a resident of Dufur for 38 years, died April 30 at his 
home.
     He was born Aug. 8, 1895 in Woodbury County, Iowa.
     Mr. Porter was member of the Tyawama Saddle Club.
     Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Betty) Abbott, Maupin, and 
Mrs. Gerald (Mary) Dahl, Roseburg; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Quentard, Orange, 
Calif.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  His wife Carrie 
Lucille died in 1979.
     Funeral services were Wednesday at Smith Callaway Chapel with Pastor Asa 
Jenson officiating.  Burial was at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
     Pallbearers were Leo Britton, Massie Ashley, Howard Crawford, Dick Huss, 
Al Blake and Darrel Ashley.
