Surnames: Pope, Ward, Lloyd, Sheppard, Lemon Phyllis Lloyd Pope, 79, a resident of Parkdale (Oregon), died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at her home following a battle with cancer. She was born on July 15, 1924, in Portland to Arthur E. and Gertrude (Ward) Lloyd. Following her graduation from Grant High School she attended the University of Michigan, later graduating from Lewis and Clark College with a bachelor's degree in Education. She had served with the WAVES in the U.S. Navy. She married Clem L. Pope in Reno, Nevada on September 25, 1947. They came to the Hood River (Oregon) area in 1980. She was a homemaker and mother who enjoyed her family, quilting, and travel. She is survived by her husband, Clem, Parkdale; her children; sons Clem Pope, McCall, Idaho; and Arthur Pope, Eugene (Oregon); daughters Ann Pope, The Dalles; Gale Sheppard, Prairie City (Oregon); and Lyn Lemon, Anchorage, Alaska; her brother, Donald Lloyd, Boise, Idaho; and five grandchildren. At her request no public services will be held. The family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance in conjunction with the disposition of her ashes. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation and Burial.
