     Jean LaVerne Poole, 65, a resident of The Dalles, died at her home 
Thursday, July 29, 2004.
     She was born April 15, 1939 in Lewistown, Mont., the second of four 
sisters to Leonard and Ellen (Henneman) Ellis. She was raised in Libby, Mont., 
moved to Arkansas and then to Stevensville, Mont. in 1953.
     She married Blaine LeRoy Poole on June 25, 1955, in Stevensville, on the 
family ranch and they moved to The Dalles in 1960. They owned and operated The 
Dalles Hand-Out from 1985 to the mid-90’s. 
     She was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge, was a foster mother for many years 
and enjoyed bingo, ceramics, playing the organ, the outdoors, camping, fishing 
and rose gardening. She was an artist who enjoyed working with watercolors and 
charcoal sketches, an avid reader and a doll collector.
     She is survived by her husband Blaine Poole, The Dalles; three children, 
Rodger Poole Sr.; Randall Poole, both of The Dalles; Christi Stewart, Selah, 
Wash.; six grandchildren, Shawna Watson, Rodger Poole Jr., Sabrina Poole, all 
of The Dalles; Audrina Poole, Yakima; Mikayla and Glenda Jean Stewart, both of 
Selah, Wash.; five great-grandchildren, Sierra, Shaynee‘, Kaden, Nia and 
Vanity; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.      She 
was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia, Joyce and Sharon.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 8:30 to 
10:30 a.m.
     Funeral services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. with Asa Jenson officiating. Interment will 
follow at Threemile Road IOOF Cemetery formerly known as Parklawn Cemetery.
     Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1112 West 9th 
Street, The Dalles, OR 97058.
