Mary M. Pishion Obituary Surnames: Pishon, McDonnell, Tompkins, Champoux, Hinson, Daniels Mary McDonnell Pishion, 90, of The Dlles, died at her home on Saturday, January 18, 2003. She was born November 3, 1912 in Walla Walla County, Washington, the only child of Jeseph and Rose (Tompkins) McDonnell. She grew up in Walla Walla and graduated as president of her class at St. Vincent Academy in 1931. After graduating from beauty school she opened her own beauty salon in 1933. She enjoyed her artistic talents through the creation of paintings, drawings, poetry and short stories, and jewelry making while raising her two daughters in Clackamas (Oregon). She met Fay F. Pishion of The Dalles while square dancing, and they married in July of 1971. Through this marriage her family grew to include another daughter and four sons. Over the next 20 years she enjoyed her lifelong love of horses by trail riding thousands of miles in Washington, Oregon and Idaho sis-by-side with her husband. An enthusiastic traveler, she also visited Ireland, Canada, South Carolina, and many points throughout the Northwest. She loved reading, playing Yahtzee and Solitaire, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in The Dalles. In addition to her husband Fay she is survived by her children and their families; daughters Kathy Champoux, Effie, Minnesota, Roberta Hinson, McCall, Idaho, and Ada Daniels of Mosier (Oregon); sons Herbert, Amos, and Russ Pishion, all of The Dalles, 14 grandchildren and 18 and a half great-grandchildren. On February 8, 2003 at 11 a.m. a memorial mass will celebrate the fullness of her life at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 715 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
