Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 1, 2006, 11:51 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 2, 2006 Jonathan “Jon” Charles Phipps, 43, of The Dalles, died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at a local hospital. The third of four children, he was born on Aug. 15, 1962, to Charles Raymond Phipps and Joan Rae (Hollingsworth) Phipps in Pendleton. His family moved to The Dalles in 1968. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1980. He was an excellent finish carpenter by trade and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He also loved outdoor sports activities including skiing, boating, fishing, jet skies. snowmobiling and camping. He is survived by his lifetime partner, Gail Wilson; sister Linda Mosher, of Gresham; brothers Steve Gillette of The Dalles; Jim Phipps of Wenatchee; and numerous nieces and nephews. His mother, Joan Phipps, preceeded him in death by four days. He is also preceded in death by his father. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. A reception will be held following the memorial service at The Elks Lodge. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory, with Spencer, Libby, and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2120 First Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98109.
