Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 19, 2006, 11:53 pm The Dalles Chronicle, February 8, 2006 James Marcus Petersen, 65, of Woodland, Wash., died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2006. He was born Feb. 23, 1940, in Spokane, to James and Eleanor Petersen. After graduating from Wallace High School, he attended Perry Institute of Technology in Yakima. He moved to Ephrata, Wash., and lived there for more than 20 years until 1983. He spent much of his life on the Columbia River working at Priest Rapids Dam, Wanapum Dam, and finally at John Day Dam near The Dalles. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2002 and moved to Woodland. He is survived by his wife, Doreen; his son, Michael Petersen, Port Angeles, Wash.; his son, David Petersen and his wife, Jackie, Woodland; his daughter, Nancy Hilton and her husband, Jeff, Albuquerque, N.M.; his step-son, Gary Harding, Bend; and his step-son, Shane Harding, Visalia, Calif.; and his sister, Karlene Samuels, Wallace, Idaho. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 4 p.m. at the Woodland Presbyterian Church, Woodland, Wash. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at the Woodland VFW. Layne’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
