The Dalles Chronicle, Thursday, October 22, 1992 Page 2 Frances Viola Moore Perry Frances Viola Moore Perry, 100, died at a nursing home in Chickasha, Oklahoma on Saturday. She was born September 23, 1892 at Roby, Texas and was the first of five children to Diedrich and Joanna (Foster) Wolff. She moved to Oregon at age 11 and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1911. She attended and graduated from Monmouth (Oregon) Norman School (now Western Oregon State College). She was May Queen or "Miss Columbia" as it was called during World War I at Monmouth Normal School. She taught in the county schools in Wasco County. She married wheat farmer Orrin W. Moore of Dufur (Oregon) on March 1, 1920 at The Dalles. On December 14, 1963, she married orchardist Ralph W. Perry of Hood River (Oregon). After Mr. Perry's death, she moved to Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) in 1973 to be near her daughter, Violet Guy, then in 1980 she moved to Chickasa to be near her other daughter, Rose White. Mrs. Perry was an 82-year-member of the Order of Eastern Star, joining The Dalles chapter when she was 18 years old. She also belonged to the Rebekah Lodge of Dufur and was active in many community organizations. Survivors include her children, Violet Guy of Gen Carbon, Illinois; Rose White of Chickasha; and David O. Moore, of Rogers, Arkansas; a sister, Shirley Whiting, White Salmon (Washington); two grandsons, Jeffrey J. Guy, Mason Neck, Virginia and James W.D. Moore, Anchorage (Alaska); two granddaughters, Julie E. Thur, Carbondale, Illinois and Linda Moore, Gelespie, Anchorage, six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and five step great- grandchildren plus foster grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Juanita Hanson, Potlatch, Idaho; Karen Mitchell, Portland; John M. Wolff, Rockville, Maryland; Mary Whiting, Seattle and Rosalie Bear _, Boston. She was preceded in death by her husband Orrin and Ralph; a brother Diedrich Jr. and Charles Wolff, and a sister, Magdelena Butler. Viewing visitation will be Friday at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral. Come from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Graveside funeral services will be Friday at 3:30 at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
