She was born May 20, 1915 in Clackamas, the only child to Ward and Rachel Julia (Davis) Jones. She grew up in the Garfield area and graduated from high school in Milwaukie. Her grandparents immigrated to Oregon in 1865 from Iowa following the Oregon Trail and Barlow Road. Their land grant of 640 acres was at the current site of Clackamas Town Center. Her mother died when she was 13 and she lived with her extended family in the Clackamas area. Her family participated in the social activities of the area playing musical instruments at the dances. She learned to play the violin, mandolin and sang at social functions. She worked for the Clackamas Greenhouses who supplied flowers to the Tommy Luke florist shops in Portland. She married Otis G. Perkins on July 17, 1937 in Clackamas, and they lived in Portland, Redmond and settled permanently in The Dalles in 1945. She worked with her husband in his optometric practice and they retired in 1980. Her husband predeceased her in 1994. She was an accomplished seamstress and photographer. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing and deer hunting. After retirement the couple traveled in Alaska and Arizona. She is survived by her children: Jois and her husband Richard Naegeli, Salem; George and his wife Alice Perkins, The Dalles; three grandchildren: Terri and her husband Brian Chimera, Tucson, Ariz.; Bryan and his wife Theresa Naegeli, Salem; Darin Naegeli and Trina Moon, Hillsboro; five great- grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, Adam and Kyle Naegeli and Nicholas Chimera. She is also survived by her two cousins, Florence Connell, Kelso, Wash.; and Merle Marshall, Dufur. Memorial services will be held at The Dalles Memorial Mausoleum on Cherry Heights Road at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, with Rev. Judy Marshall officiating. Gathering of family and friends will follow at Cherry Heights Retirement Center dining room at 2 p.m. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
