The Dalles Weekly Reminder, April 29, 1988
Lawrence F. Payton, 71, died in The Dalles April 24.  He was a Maupin resident 
for 22 years.

Mr. Payton was born April 25, 1916.  He was a forklift driver for Mt. Fir 
Timber Co. and a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the 
Maupin American Legion #73.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of The Dalles; step-son, Duane Smith of 
Tygh Valley; brother, Clarence Payton of Sunnyside, Wash.; sisters, Ann Bliss 
and Yakima and Betty Gullerto of Los Altos Hills, Calif.

Graveside services were held at the Odd Fellows Parklawn Cemetery at the 
veterans section.  Pastor Asa Jensen officiated.
