She was born June 14, 1919 in Terry, Mont., to Eldon and Rena (Kinkade) Welliver and moved as a child to Bismarck, N.D., where she grew up. Shortly after her graduation from Bismarck High School she married Vincent O. Mason in 1938, and the couple moved to Hood River where he owned and operated a gas station and trucking company for several years. They moved back to North Dakota and continued to raise their family there, and she began a career selling cosmetics. They lived there until his death in 1967. She moved to California and married Alexander A. Paul in the late 1960s in San Francisco. The couple moved to San Diego and resided there until his death in February of this year, whereupon she moved to Dallesport to be near her family. She enjoyed raising her children and baking for them, watching Christian television and listening to Christian music, and loved her cats. She was a member of the Baptist faith and had been very active in church functions in years past. Survivors include her children and their families; sons Dick and his wife Judy Mason of Bismarck, and John V. Mason of Ghana, Africa; daughters and their spouses Mary and Roger Person of Dallesport and Susan and Dallas Nelson of Rochester, Minn. Also surviving are her sister Abigail Teeter of South Bend, Ind., seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services in celebration of her life will be scheduled at The Dalles Evangelical Church later this spring; interment will be in San Diego with her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to The Dalles Evangelical Church. Arrangements are by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
