He was born Oct. 1, 1930 in Helena, Mont., the oldest of three children to John J. and Alice (Conner) Patchett. The family moved to Sand Point, Idaho, and then in the early 40’s to Catalina Island, Calif. He graduated from high school in San Pedro, Calif., in the Class of 1948. He married Lenida Fern Lynn on Aug. 12, 1949 in Orange County, Calif. She preceded him in death in January 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Submarine Division and was discharged in October 1955. He lived in Southern California and worked for Martin Marietta Aluminum, transferring to The Dalles in 1971 to help start up the Goldendale Aluminum Plant. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, boating and at one time, had a hydroplane. He was a member of The Dalles Classic Car Club and owned a 1932 Ford streetrod. He is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Patchett, The Dalles, whom he married June 7, 1997 in Goldendale; four sons, John Patchett, Tigard; Donald Patchett, Mosier; Craig and Gregg Patchett, both of Lebanon; two step- children, Coby Bailey, The Dalles, and Anita Blake, Carson; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Luke, Alpine, Calif., and Allison Ball, San Pedro, Calif. Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, March 4, at 11 a.m. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win- quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
