Surnames: Parsons, Harriman, Carter, Schwindt Leitha "Niece" Perniecie Parsons, 89, The Dalles, died at her home on Thursday, April 3, 2003. She was born November 9, 1913, in Long Creek, Oregon, the sixth of eight children to Samuel Benton and Martha Rebecca (Harriman) Carter. She grew up and graduated from high school in Long Creek. She married James Woodrow Parsons and they later divorced. Mrs. Parsons was a resident of The Dalles for 60 years and had worked as a legal secretary to T.Leland Brown, Ron Somers and Dick & Dick. She also worked as secretary for Wasco County Judges Elder and Kortge, and at the Episcopal Diocese Office for Bishop Rusty Kimsey. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, enjoyed country music and delivering meals-on-wheels. She is survived by her daughter, Perniecie Lee Schwindt and her husband, Jim, of The Dalles and numerous family members, mostly nieces and nephews. Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home from 2 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 7. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at Long Creek Community Church with Reverend Rusty Kimsey officiating. Interment will follow at Long Creek Cemetery.
