The Dalles Weekly Reminder, May 17, 1984
     Arthur F. Pankonine, 82, died May 8 at Good Samaritan Hospital in 
Portland.

     He was born in The Dalles Jan. 5, 1902 at the Pankonine family home at 
923 West 9th Street, which is now the sight of the Day Care Center.  He 
attended public schools in The Dalles and later attended Oregon State 
University in Corvallis where he studied Electrical Engineering.

     Most of his adult life was spent in the hotel industry in The Dalles, 
Portland, and San Francisco.

     He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Dalrymple of Portland; Mrs. C. 
F. (Alvena) Petersen of The Dalles; a brother, Richard J. Pankonine of Dufur 
and six nieces and two nephews.

     Graveside services will be scheduled at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in The 
Dalles.
